Donations...Who's UP? (or down?)

Post by TVST*R »

I was about to hit the "PayPal Donate" button since I've been so happy with "ThunderBolt" (she is running mighty fine) and the weather.
Then I thought, let's see if anyone else is feeling the love for FS.com

Putting in $10 now....Happy to put in more or less depending on the response here.

You got me Tom. I have to admit that I haven't gotten around to pitching in my fair share. Honestly, at least once a day I tell myself to get to it, then I get side tracked. I actually had a larger figure in mind, but that's probably fair considering how much I use this forum.
I'm doing it tonight!

General comment! - not a complaint !

I donated a month or two ago .... I thought there would have been some posting or listing that acknowledges who has donated?

And the flow on effect would/should be to encourage others to do the same! ! !

That's a tough call Adrian. On the one hand, this is a free forum. On the other hand, it's not free for Evan ($) and Mark (Time). We should contribute to the cost because we use it. It's not only informative, it's a lot of fun. But if contributers are named would that cause other members who maybe couldn't afford it to feel pressured? I don't know the answer.
Maybe an occasional hint (kinda like Public Television) would be a reminder to those like me, who mean to and keep forgetting. Thanks by the way Tom, I needed that.

I'm not privy to the paypal info, so I can't help there. It is a tough call whether to publicize the donators or not. I've been too busy to work on some FS.com fundraising items, but they're in the works.

To All,

Perhaps as Ron has suggested we the general populace should take it on ourselves to remind others members to donate to the upkeep of the site. A monthly posting by someone.

I mean this 'little posting' has enabled some dicussion and hopefully some additional donations !

Food for thought !

i don't mind an occasional public service bulletin every now and again.

but, i don't want my name appearing at the top, middle or bottom of any contribution list. I like the friends i make here, and the opportunity to share my small knowledge of our cars....but i don't wanna infer any status by being listed as a minor/major financial contributor. people read too much into things .. and I am NOT all that.

i also don't want to know which of my friends cannot afford to financially contribute, or why.

Good going Tappy!
A lot of us pay some sort of dues to belong to an organization or club. FLU for instance. Or in my case: AARP. And yet they don't let us join the others on a daily basis like this forum. I'll betcha Evan is out of pocket a whole lot more than he's received back. Hey, let's keep it going.
OK, OK, I'll get down from the soapbox.

Time to chime in and thank everyone! I really do appreciate the folks that have donated helping us all out.
Thank you very much. I thought about posting names or giving special ranks - but I also had some of the consideration that was mentioned earlier, I don't want to make anyone feel bad or make people feel like they "must" donate. I do want to thank those of you that have again though.

In the spirit of transparency, I will tell you that since the new version of this went live we have received a total of $165 in donations. I'd like to also point out that there are a number of folks here that have donated in the past (years ago now) and there are also some people here that have made more than one donation. I know who each and every one of you are and you have all been a big part of this site. You all should know by now that since 1996 I've been dedicated to keeping this site online for the Spider community. I do not expect donations to cover the costs, but every little bit helps and more importantly, if this site has helped you enough to want to make a donation of any size, then that's what it's all about.

Thanks again folks, all of you. Sorry I haven't posted much lately, been crazy busy at work these days. Plus, now that the weather is turning - I'm outside every chance I get! Before I sign out I want to thank Mark too for going above and beyond in the role of moderator - thanks Mark!

Keep 'em between the ditches!
