hey guys today i had a chance to pull off the diff cover to see what all the rattle is coming from and it looks like the pinion bearings are shot. my book dosent really cover the bearing replacement sooo how do i do it?

The factory manual details the procedure. I'd say it's best left to a rear-end shop on the late type rear ends.

I second Csaba's recommendation to have an experienced rear end mechanic rebuild your diff. With a single use crush washer, replacing the pinion bearing (and shaft) involves lots of close tolerance fitting of shims. I also discovered that there are at least two different size pinion shafts. Not a project for at least this challenged shade tree wrencher
