I have a 1970 124 with a bent pan hard rod, looking to find out what years are compatible.

could be that later models did have diferent geometry, maybe cause of longer springs? sorry, i haven't had oportunity to work on those.
right now there's a 1970 spider in my workshop, and panhard rod is exactly the same as on my 1979 Lada 2103 leading me to believe what i've previously posted. anyway, since i plan to test several diferent spring sets, i'm going to make adjustable panhard rod

Pretty sure the Spiders with the 4.10 rear have the same panhard rod.

The 3.90 rear used a different one.

The switch over came I think with the 2 liter motor. So around 79 or 80.

When I went to a later 3.90 rear on my 76 I had to use the parts car panhard rod too.

I'm embarrassed to tell you I threw my old one away. Never thought someone would need it.

I know the later models without the drop out pumpkin are different than the early ones.

I was recently looking for one too and here's where I found one used for cheap. (Location is Connecticut)

Rear Suspension
Trailing Arms - Long $15.00
Trailing Arms - Short $12.00
Panhard Rod $25.00

I'm looking for a pdf or .doc of a shop repair manual. I know there are copyright issues with sharing books still in print but I'm not certain if they apply to books no longer being printed.

If you do a Google search on Fiat 124 Spider Shop manual you should be able to find it. A quick Google search found:

http://car-service-manuals.com/catalog/fiat/124-spider

I downloaded the manual from some place - I forget where. However I ended up buying one as the pictures are not useable in the downloaded version. It's well worth the money to buy a print version.

I think there is just an early and late model. the early model is straight. the late model has a wow in the middle to clear the pumpkin. Dont know what year they changed.

that's about right, it was the 78-79 year when the spider switched from banjo (front entry) to Salisbury 131 style diff (cap on the back). (I seem to think it was when the 2L was introduced??)

1966 to early 1978 are the same. This is a completely straight bar.
Late 1978 to 1985 used a shorter bar that also had an S-curve in it.

In the later 1978 did the trailing arms change at all, or just the panhard rod?

The trailing arm bushings changed in 1979, but the arms length remained the same, so they are interchangeable.
