Center/Upper Console Reassembly Sequence?

Post by supplyguy »

I fear I have missed a step and do not recall the removal order. After several days of putzing and too many posts here, I have my center console reassembled with working lighter, stereo, new center speaker, hazard switch and courtesy light. Tonight I tried to slide in the center console to hook up the heater fan switch and get ready to dry fit the carpet. It does not appear that the center console can slide in while the upper is all hooked up. I searched the but haven't found the magic solution or the definitive "you screwed up" posting on sequencing. I so don't want to disconnect the center console again and deal with all that wiring, so hoping there's a better idea here. Many thanks again.

The small upper console goes in last. I've had cars where i've had to push up on the dash to get it to tuck under.

Got the center back in without removing the upper and no wires ripped out! On to the carpeting! Haven't had the interior in for six months and getting giddy.

Though you're already done installing it, the easiest installation is in this order when everything has been removed: Lower console, upper console, dashboard.

Thanks, John. May still have to come back out. I put a cap on the lower console (and I am thrilled with how good it looks!) and neglected to think through where the holes were/should be through the old lower and the cap, to screw the upper console into and properly secure. The way this has been progressing, I'm thinking maybe if I get the upper in the best possible place, maybe just drill through the old holes in the upper and continue through the cap and the lower and hope for the best. Getting weary of the one step forward two back effort.
