Perhaps have a look at a few u-tubes...
I bought a Hobart 180 and after a u-tube or two I made a kiln cart for lumber. Need gas with it.
Perhaps have a look and see if any community college in the area might have beginners classes or for example here a local industrial supply store has them time to time. Any friends that are competant welders?
It is not really difficult in my opinion for doing simple things. I also did the cracked fire-wall fix with mine.
Good luck..

I've been thinking about getting the cheapo wirefeed welder on Harborfrieght, since they have one for $89 w/ coupon. Any thoughts on that welder? I'm hoping to eventually replace my shock towers in the future.

I own the harbor freight model. It is piece of Sh?t. The issue is the drive motor is very weak and gives you very inconsistent feed rates. The nozzle and cable are also sub par and forces you to make sure the cable has no tight bends. You only have switch adjustments, so hard to get it dialed in on sheet metal. I'm sorry i didnt cough up another Franklin and got a better welder. we have a small Miller at work and it is a dream to use.
