Eladio and I picked up a 70 Spider a few weeks ago. We knew it had a broken starter, and a recently installed cylinder head. We finally got around to lifting it up today, and this is what we found;

#4 rod sticking through the pan and the left side of the block. The impact of the rod is what broke the starter.
ouch!!!!!!!!!

Yep, that'll knock a starter on it's butt. Good gracious! You don't see this too often on a Fiat motor.

Need some help finding a good mechanic?
Re: ouch!!!!!!!!!
Mark. Mike Mudge has a car that he is debating parting out. I'm not sure he wants to sell the engine off, but he seems to be at the edge of the cliff, and if you give him the right shove he might. I think his is an 1800 from a 1975. I'd think that would make a pretty good donor for this car your working on.

I figured as much.So Cal Mark wrote:thanks, but I've got lots of parts including several blocks
