aux air valve

Post by unplugged »

I left the aux air valve off when reassembling my engine compartment. I am now having second thoughts as I want to improve idle when first started. Can anyone provide closeup pics on how it is mounted?

Are they are other alternatives that anyone has tried. The car has megasquirt installed so from the control side I have options I believe but the thermally operated bosch valve is appealing from a simplicity stand point.

Thanks

The plug connection is pointed to drivers side and is mounted by a couple of short bolts with 10mm heads just behind and on the coolant connection between the cam wheels

Thanks.
I am looking for an extreme closeup of how it is mounted. I think it is mounted to the coolant neck but that is the part I am missing. My understanding is that the engine heat augments the electrical heater that comes on to slowly shut down the valve which is why I think I need to mount it in some way thermally connected to the engine. OR possible I am wrong and the electrical heater is sufficient to close it.

no, the voltage applied is all that is needed to close the valve.

This photo shows it completely closed while i was holding the AAR in my hand with the plug connected.
