Door Handle Removal

Post by davery »

In my manual it says "pry off the plastic ball and socket door lock link". I have the brackets off, where are these? I don't want to force something with out really knowing how it is to come apart.

The little plastic rectangle at the top of the rod has a hole on the side. There is a ball that snaps into that hole. Gently pry it away from the handle and it will either pop out or shatter completely (the plastic is 30 years old).

Thankfully mine popped out nicely.

Got them both out. Now I just have to worry about how to put them back.

install the one on the door latch before installing. gently squeeze the plastic on the ball with pliers. after install, you can get the pliers in the door to do the top.
