81 Spider Turbo resto.

Post by Indyandy »

My poor turbo has been in storage for the past 15 years. Not anymore! I pushed it out from it's resting spot in the back of my polebarn. It now is on jack stands awaiting repairs. I dug out all the factory parts and repair mauals I have for it. Also all the OEM parts I have put away: brake rebuild kits, new brake hoses, front calipers, brake servo, 2 master cylinders, air flow meter, fuel filter, alt. belt, all the electrical and FI switches and sensors, Complete emblem sets, new turbo stripe kit, and various other parts. The one thing I don't have is a fuel pump. What does everyone else use that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I've already drained the fuel tank and cleaned it, but I want to flush it out and my fuel pump is inop. I also cleaned all the grounds to begin with. Is there any way to repair this pump? It has power to it, so I am guessing it has old fuel stuck in it.

HI Andy,

I would recommend having the tank boiled out by a radiator shop and having it coated. You just can't get everything out by flushing it.
We sell and economy pump, but others reported being able to buy something that can be made to work at the local Napa store.
