Trolley and jack stand weight limits

Post by Ellie »

Hi there, Foolishly I went to my local auto shop to buy a trolley jack and some stands expecting there to be one size fits all. Is there a recommended weight bearing for jacks and stands? I was thinking the 2000kgtrolley jack was overkill so was looking at 1400kg and figured I ought to get appropriate stands to hold the weight once up in the air. There is a variety of these in weight bearing and design, any feedback would be great.

Cheers
Mike

our cars weight a little over 1000kg, the the 1400kg jack is fine, just check on it practicality, as my car is lowered I coudn't fit a normal trolley jack under the cross member.
I actuaclly bought an alumunium 1.5T from Cosco here in Australia that thus far has been great.

Thanks for that, yes the clearance may be the determining factor as it is pretty tight under there. I need to get that clutch cable off again and want to give myself room to move this time.

No I think they are only in ACT, VIc and NSW. The main Auto supply shops in Brissy are supercheap and Repco. I like the gallery you have put together, that is one nice spider you have there.

Hey Mike

Just spotted you response, thanks for your kind words. I can get one from Cosco here in NSW for you but just imagine freight would be quite a bit, the 1.5T aluminium jack I got was about $180 or do and is an Arco or Arcan brand (something like that??)
You know anyone driving from Syd to Bris at all?
