Who the heck, in their right mind would drive a car like this:
• Wipers work only with manual assistance
• Heater motor works intermittently, conversely proportionate to the amount of frost on the windshield
• Clock radio does not work while car is idling too low
• Engine idles too low while not at operating temp, too high if left unattended
• Gas gauge works only for the first ¾ of a tank, afterwards insists that there is ¼ fuel remaining for the rest of the trip…
• No power steering
• No cup holders
• Convertible top makes less noise when windows are open
• CD player is not audible above 45 mph
• Car cannot be driven 6 months out of the year
• Radiator has a nice steady leak
• Seat belt does not retract, preferring to get stuck in the plastic guide on the seat back
• Water temp gauge must be monitored more than any other sensor on the vehicle

Re: who the heck
with 6 months of downtime, I'd expect you to have every little flaw worked over to perfection. What have you been doing all winter?
Re: who the heck
this vehicle was in storage across the way.
and actually, i took this past winter off. it was too dang cold too often this year to warrant any major projects.
now, it is a crash course to keep 'er on the road during the season. just need a few moments to fix a few of those items, as many were known last fall.

Happiness is having a good Fiat mechanic nearby to take care of her, you know kinda like Raul the pool boy....
Re: who the heck
drove with the top down all the way home, then for some errands around town after i got home.
now that the front yard work is caught up, i can start addressing that long list of issues, starting with the speedo and the radiator.

Re: who the heck
don't wear a speedo while changing the radiator, it's just not safe

Re: who the heck
I thought French guys and fat German tourists only wore speedos! Perhaps his car wears speedos, some cars wear bras. (leather ones at that!)
I for one take pride in my car that is "suppose" to be an ogre to maintain... even if it has severe allergies to snow and salt.

Is your speedo binding, Mike? Is this the same one you'll be wearing at Freakout?
