Keeping it sharp - paint, wax, detailing, etc.

This might help

124 shift knob history:
1966-67: round black plastic knob
1968-78: as above, but with shiftpattern
1979-82: light colored wood, kind of cone shaped
Pinins: I've seen them with Spider 2000 knobs and similar shaped leather knobs
1985.5: large round wood. Uber-cool.

I'd like to know too.
I was bidding on that exact knob but lost out in the end & would like to find another.

I like the fact that it is wood & that it indicates "dn" to get into reverse.
Would look really good with a thick coat of varnish on it.

Glad to hear you got it SLO, post up picks once you get it installed.

See if there is any markings on it which might indicate origin

The correct shift knob in the pre 1983 spiders were those:

43mm black hard polished bakelite with metal thread

If anybody is interested I have some of those in NOS left in my stock...

They are similar to those installed in Fiat Dino 2000 and Ferrari 365 400 412

Same item was used for a while in Fiat X1/9 and 125

If you are interested you can send me an email:
mrtubeamp at web.de

I also sell a few of them on ebay,

http://www.ebay.de/itm/161036224126?ssP ... 1555.l2649

its up to you to restore
the nice original "Ferrari" look of your Fiat shiftstick, you wont find those
NOS somewhere else.
