72 bumper fasteners vs 71

I recently bought a 71 bumper (I think) for my 72 spider and the fasteners on the 71 bumper are too narrow. Has anyone dealt with this?

I know there were several different mounting styles it seems from 70-74. Sometimes a little fabricating is in order.
