Since door sagging is a common problem with our cars can someone explain what exactly happens and if it is possible to fix.
Is it a crack that happens on the inside of the door?
Has anyone ever bought fiberglass doors as replacements.
My passenger side door is sagging and i find it realy anoying and the door rubs on the fender and rubs the pain off.
My drivers side door doesnt close nicely, Its not the hinge, I discovered it was because of colision damage on the rear drivers side fender that happened by a previous owner who knows when. The entire fender is slightly tilted inwards so the door doesnt align with the fender. This repair of the fender is on the to do list this summer.
Paint is not in the budget this year but I deffinately want the panels to align laser sharp.

the inner sheet metal on the door cracks around the nut insert. Depending on how extensive the cracks are, it can be difficult to repair. The problem is that the surface that has to be welded also has to be flat for the hinge to lay against. Definitely fix it BEFORE painting since the heat from the welding will ruin the paint

since there is little other protection in case of a T-bone accident, replacing the doors with fiberglass doors (if they existed) may not be a wise decision.
sagging doors usually occur because of the cracks mark speaks of. this occurs because the method used to enter or exit that particular side of that particular car is to lean heavily on the door while getting in or out. changing the method of entry and exit will be a good idea as well as welding the crack.
since you are talking about improper accident repair....you may not have a crack issue, it could be something else.

I have two seperate isues involving both doors.
The drivers side rear fender was not properly repaired thus causing the door to look poorely aligned with the fender.
The passanger side door had a makeshift door stopped at the time while ùi was awaiting the new one to arrive. One night while on a date I oppened the passenger door for my leggy pasenger and she closed it, well it turns out it wasnt properly closed. As soon as I applied the breakes after taking off the door swung open, popped the makeshift door stopper and hyper extended itself, since then the door sags and rubs on the front fender, I can feel a little play if i have the door open and i lift it a little.
I didnt get mad at her although it was very difficult to pretend I was not furious. But what can I say Im a sucker for Models and Pilates instructors.
Oh and then there was the moron who wanted to buy my car for 1000 bucks when I clearely asked for allot more, tipical know it all, he asked to see the engine (as if he knew what he was looking at), after critisizing every little imperfection of the car he decides to close my hood without unhooking the latch, obviousely it resists but he kept on strugglinh and somehow the latch came unhooked and the hood torqued slightly to the right and scratched the fender.
I wanted to kill him, not only did he waste 20 minutes of my time but he critisized my car and damaged it. Luckily my father was there to calm me down.
Lesson learnt, there are allot of ignorant jelous people out there who have nothing better to do than bust your chops.
2nd lesson learnt, stop cheking out the models leggs getting into your car and close the door yourself.

Having the same problem with this cracking issue .Trying to get the car ready for paint but this driver side door is holding me back.Would Tig welding work and then grind to a smooth finish has anyone know of a place that can fix this problem in the Toronto area.
