Concerned about replacing control arms...

It's almost time to get the spider out of hibernation. The only thing that I see keeping me from really driving the car is bad control arm bushings.The CA bushings are all shot, dried out, cracked, ripped and that's most likely the reason the car feels like loose steering at high way speeds. All tie rods are new, steering box was replaced with a good one, new steering idler. So, I want to and need to replace the control arm bushings. I'm just concerned about the lower control arm crossmember bolts as the PO welded the right side of the crossmember to the frame. If they break basicly bye-bye car. Do these bolts have the tendency of being weak and breaking when trying to get the nuts off, or I'm I just being nervous for nothing? Thanks.

I've never seen the bolt itself break. I've seen the threads strip, tho. Does the crossmember look solid where to bolts go through?
FWIW the bolts can be removed with minor surgery and replaced.

Looks solid from where the bolts go through from what I remember. The PO repaired the crossmember by welding a crack in it, car was in some sort of passanger front side accident. Didn't discover this until i put a lot of time and money into it, I was a car newb when I got it. He did bead weld a thick steel plate under the crossmember spanning its length which only makes me feel a tiny tiny bit better. If he didn't weld the crossmember to the frame rail I would just buy another crossmember.

It's not uncommon for crossmembers to fatigue crack and be welded or reinforced.
If it was done well I would not worry about it. I would worry more about it being welded to the body, hope he did a good job there!
