Had this parts car that was hauled away for scrap yesterday. Some pics for posterity.
Really? Trailer hitch?
Thought it was a 68, but vin is 124AS 0019651, which seems to put it well into 69
This is the engine from it, not getting scrapped yet. I think still the 1438 block with the distributor, but a head also with a distributor (and another distributor laying on top of the head)
Is it possible to identify the head from the casting number?

crop the top picture to get rid of the busses in the back and you have a great calender shot.

Stephen,
It's a bit hard to read, but if it's 4239436, it looks like it's from a 1608. Here's some cylinder head ID info in Brad Artigue's nice writeup:

Thanks Brian,
That's a nice resource. I have a bit larger pictures, and yes, it does look like 124AC 000 4239436 which is identified as a 124 sport coupe 1608cc head. Good to know. Looks like the Artigue data came from http://mirafiori.com/faq/content/headid/headid.html
That blue engine behind has 132 AC 0C 4304781 head, identified as a 73-74 124 1592cc. I don't recall exactly the year of the fiat spider that came out of, probably a 74. I have a lot of parts from it, too. My Dad also has a 73 spider which probably has a 1592 as well.

I knew I had seen that table somewhere else!
If you have a '73-'74 driver's side rear bumper, I am looking for one (preferably not too pristine so it matches the one on the right side!).
Thanks,
Brian

Re: 68 (69?) Spider farewell
Here I thought I had a 1608
Just checking the number on the engine I have sitting in the garage, head is a 1438, according to the number match
To check the block there should be a number under the intake correct?
No one would put a 1438 head on a 1608? Would they
Got me Courios
Head number is 4198994
Block number is 125 bc. 040
0408038

Re: 68 (69?) Spider farewell
Rear bumpers were rusted through on the bottom, and whoever added that hitch welded it to the brackets in a way that I couldn't get them off anyway. Unfortunately, it was a short clean-up trip, and I didn't have time to take much else off.SLOSpider wrote:DAMN lots of parts left on there. Did you pull off the bumpers? rear license plate bracket?
