Will Be Gone For Awhile

Post by RRoller123 »

To my Spider friends (most of whom I have never even met in person!); My dear loving wife, Jeannie, has just been diagnosed with a serious cancer, an we are devastated. I am presently a broken man, but we will fight as hard as possible in the months ahead. She started radiation last week, and we move on to chemo in a couple more weeks. I will not be on the forum much for the near future as we care for her. Please keep her in your thoughts, and prayers do work and are heard, so I ask for all the prayers that you can give, to ask God to guide us through this terrible tragedy that is tearing at my family.

Tragedy has no friends, it makes and keeps no schedule, answers to no man, and it inflicts the maximum possible pain. Tragedy is the amorphous, devious and terrible tool of pure evil, roaming the planet at random and picking its victims at apparent whim. The only defense is a strident and unwavering faith in God and love.

That's terrible news, Peter.

I wish Jean a speedy recovery, and both of you the strength and courage to face this illness.

Peter, our thoughts and prayers go out from my family to yours during this trying time. I have never had to deal with a situation such as this. I realize it will be emotionally exhausting however, if you ever need to vent, discuss or look for a smile to be added to your day we at the forum will be here for you and yours :)

Thank you all. We have the biopsy Wednesday to determine what kind it is, and that will yield the prognosis. And I will certainly need to lurk around here at times, just to keep my sanity, although this might not be the best place for that! Trying to smile, <{:^)

We prayed for Jeannie at the dinner table tonight and I'll continue to hold her up in my prayers. I am so sorry that you had such devastating news and pray you both have strength as you go through this process. You have friends worldwide lifting you both up to God in prayer.

All things are possible with God. Your family will be in my families prayers tonight at the dinner table.

My mother, at 74, defines the spirit required to continue fighting for life. She is a three time survivor of melanomaI that at one point was stage IV. She is like many of our cars. A fiery redheaded Italian lady that knows how to survive. I have been in remission from non-Hodgkin lymphoma since 1994. There is a lot more to these family stories and people that have been touched by cancer.

The prayer tonight will start off as many others have started. Lord, please give Jeannie and her family the strength of spirit to fight this desease celebrating precious life, one day at a time, and trusting in God's grace.

God Bless your family, Ray
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Peter,

Please do not vacate your normal lives like the brief distraction of this forum. Any normalcy you can keep will be of great value and of course we would all like to stay up to date so we may focus our prayers on what is needed. My family has dealt with this situation too many times and understand how the big C word makes you feel. Your family and your doctors will be the focus of many sincere prayers by the great people on this forum which you will undoubtedly need through this ordeal. This is a great place to vent and seek comfort when the pain and frustration become what seems to be unbearable. Don't keep it to yourself like a secret remember you friends and family want to be there for you so let them.

You will also appreciate the drive in your Fiat more than you ever did before. Spring is coming, enjoy it as much as you can.

Again, thank you all. I am driven to tears by all the wonderful, warm responses from everyone in our lives, including of course all of you here on the forum. My wife has set up a caringbridge blog at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jeanlenk and the password is "ihavefaith".

I just brought the Spider back to the driveway today from storage, and it will get used as much as possible. BUT it is still so damned cold here in Boston! I actually drove it with the top UP for the first time. Not so bad after all. I remain Treasurer of the Waltham Stamp Club and am trying to stay both focused on our battle and distracted from the terrible fear and despair and terror of possible loneliness at the same time. This sucks big time.
