Help

Post by bobbo52 »

How does one remove the gear lever extension? mine turns freely and I'm going to replace it with a short shifter from Allisons. My book tells me that "a sharp tug should be all that's required to pull the upper lever from the lever stub" but nothing happens. What next?

There is a plastic collar you wll see at the bottom opening of the shift lever. Take a small screw driver or pick and pull that down out of the upper shifter. Then you can give it a few yanks and see if she coms out.

Or maybe a couple of small screw drivers. That is what I had to do.

Ya I also had to jam 2 up there. I started with a small one and then got a bigger one and tried to pry them then started pulling the leg. It'll come out. Best is since you're going to a short shifter you don't need any of those parts and you can not worry about messing them up.

Just to be sure you know. there's the silver part, then inside is a white cylinder clip that presses out on the inside of the long silver leg. You put the screw drivers between the silver outer most piece and the white clip.
