daily driver

Hello all,

I was wondering how many out there still use their Fiat 124 Spider as a daily driver. No cheating! I mean 100% daily driver i.e. going to work, groceries in the back seat, night on the town etc etc. (please post pics along with millage!)

Unfortunately I live in Montreal therefore it is impossible to use my spider as a daily driver unless I want it to turn into a pile of rust after one winter.

I know that the 124 sedans were used for decades in middle eastern countries as taxi cabs so I guess its a testament to the quality of the engines.

From April to November every day I also have/will undercoat Fiona every year.

we just got hit with a massive storm but it's almost all cleaned up

I used my 77 Spider between April and the end of November from 1999 till 2004. I had no other car so if it wasn't running I wasn't driving lol

Every day. Rain or shine (no snow in SoCal). Only exception is when it won't start in the morning. Mileage is indeterminate - not the original engine or the original speedo, so no way to tell.

I'm really jealous,

I'm 33 and grew up obsessed with car, I must still have a box of hot-wheels and matchbox cars somewhere in my parents garage. I wanted to drive since I was 3, I had the General Lee peddle car and I was the happiest kid in the world!

Modern cars are great, safe, much more fuel efficient, amazing power from small engines, quiet, reliable etc etc

But the fun factor is missing, I have driven very fast cars and I wont lie, the adrenaline starts pumping, but there is a disconnect, I don't feel the road through the wheel and the shifter. When I drive my Spider Its like I'm back in my pedal car, I'm part of the car and completely involved, every gage is important, every sound tells me something.

Its a break from cell phones, social media, e-mails, and TV. It's the last freedom.

All this being said I should move to a warmer climate to enjoy old cars all year long lol
