Daily drivers?

Post by hayesbd »

I wonder how many of us are regularly relying on these cars as practical every day transportation. I just recently acquired my 73 spider after 20 years since my last Fiat, which I got rid of because it was no longer practical, regular transportation. The reason I snapped up this current car was twofold: 1)as a project to work on with two of my boys, and 2)as a practical set of wheels (I probably won't drive around any salt, but all other conditions I will). I was amazed at how inexpensive these cars have remained, both to purchase and to maintain.

Anyone else as crazy as I am?

Regards,
Brian

Hey Brian
Our stories are similar. I drive mine everyday from about April 1st to November and when I am not driving her I am thinking about her. Always tinkering

Ditto! :D
Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I drive mine daily 50+ miles round trip - drove to work with the top down this morning, had lunch in the car with the top down this afternoon, drove home with the top down in the evening. 8)

Im with spidernut, I drive almost daily 86 miles round trip to work. Although today I did not drive it as I was off work and clearing about 350' of fence line. Perfect top down day and I missed it. Luckely all week is gonna be beautiful. :D

I drive my '82 just about every day that it isn't raining (these CA drivers don' t drive well in the rain...God forbid we ever get SNOW!). Grocery-getter (lots of room) garden store (lots of room for flats and you CAN fit that big outdoor ficus tree in the passenger seat) borrowing a massage table from a friend. (absolutely, get out the bunjies and strap it to the luggage rack).
Of course, I take the longest, prettiest, curviest routes to get there. We drove down to the beach to see if we could catch a glimpse of the comet, but the marine layer was too thick. :( But the ride was fun.

Drive mine to work every day, rain or shine - about 20 miles round trip. And while it doesn't get too cold here in SoCal, it is definitely true that Fiasco plays much nicer when it's warm. Easier starts in the morning, engine runs smoother. Altogether it's been a great daily driver, as long as I have a backup for those 4 to 5 days a year when it just won't get out of the driveway in the morning.

Daily driver here, and I just put in my Procar Rally Smoothback drivers seat, so nice, sits a tad high but don't hit my head or anything and I'm 6'2" 230lbs. Anyways I drive daily, 60 miles roundtrip, but I have a rain leak on door/window frame by the vent window which I need to fix. On really rainy days it's the 88' landcruiser at 13mpg ouch! 2007 porsche 911 Carrera S is on it's way, should be here in 7-10 days and only has 10k miles, fairly stoked!

Hi there chris
Gonna try and keep the miles down on it and use it for those special occassions, or just to "Giddy-up!" on some of the mountainous windy roads whilst avoiding the speed enforcement personel :)
