Spikneck,
If indeed your leak occurs just sitting idling in driveway as you indicated in your PM, it ain't likely your transmission. Oil runs down. Anything above could be creating a leak which will then run down engine/trans and come out below.

The second is a picture of my shift housing. I had to hold the camera above the transmission and take several pictures until I got the aim right. You can see the plug is missing and there is dirt and oil around the opening.

The plug is part number 5 in the diagram.

It is located on the front of the shift housing on top of the transmission. The opening faces forward.

I'm just saying this is what I found. There are other possiblities. From your pictures It looks like it is near the back of the right side of your transmission. The first thing I would do is get a rag or paper towels and wipe all the oil off the transmission then take it out for a drive.
Also, hold a camera up there in front of your shift housing and point it at the plug. I took about a dozen pictures before I got one that was good enough to see what was going on. If your plug is in place then you have a different problem.
It is possible the gasket between your shift housing and the transmission is shot.
At first I thought my leak was coming from the speedometer gear since that was where the oil was dripping from.
Good Luck.

If you are feeling energetic, one can take the lower consol out,and a removable inspection plate is on top of the trans tunnel. Might give you better access to the top. I suppose you could even drive it around the block like that as well.

OK its at the back, that's a little different. Just keep digging until you find it. That copper ground strap is non stock, there should be a green one on the drivers side of the engine to the frame rail. Another ground strap never hurts, but on the trans is a new one. Also, what are those two cables running along the bottom, where do they go? Now would be a good time to replace the rear transmission support, it may be sagging and spongy from being oil soaked.

ok I think I am going to have to remove the trans! If so what all should I remove and in what order!
i can get to it!!!! I removed all the brackets that support the shaft and trans but I still cant get my hand far enough in there to check for the leak. also as I was reaching up in there I felt as if the seal on top of the trans was like coming out to far from the edge and it feels like cardboard??????

That is the speedo cable, there should be a little O-ring in there.
