Wow, take a look at this one.
It seems to me we have been seeing high end restorations more often on our Spiders. I'm even thinking the asking price isn't all that outrageous.

The pushed in bumpers look pretty nice too.

Re: Beautiful Florida Spider
This is a great looking spider that I do think is worth the asking price. Very good attention to detail. When you look at that magnificent engine bay you keep noticing additional details. For example, It appears that many of the wires and grounds are re-routed to be out of view giving it a clean hotrod look. Like the ground strap just above the oil filter housing next to the dip stick. Nicely done. The hose clamps are the right type to avoid issues. I'm not sure what type of controle module he has protected where the coil normally bolts to the side? A lot of attention to detail in every aspect of this car. It does not look like money was an obstacle in the restore. If the car runs as good as it looks and the seller has some details... Buying this car could actually save you money!

Re: Beautiful Florida Spider
it does look nice, however why would you put a 1600 motor in a 1978 spider ???

Re: Beautiful Florida Spider
Because, if I understand correctly, while the original motor in the '78 was a bit of a pig bogged down by pollution control crap, the 1608 that was in the '72 had more horsepower and would have easily out performed the '78.

Re: Beautiful Florida Spider
is it not possible to rework an original 1800 and remove all the pollution gear?? I don't think the 1600 would put out any less pollutions??courtenay wrote:Because, if I understand correctly, while the original motor in the '78 was a bit of a pig bogged down by pollution control crap, the 1608 that was in the '72 had more horsepower and would have easily out performed the '78.

That's a beautiful car. The problem for me - it's just TOO nice. I like having that little bit of a 'roughness' to my wee beasties.

How could that have penciled out? They JUST finished the resto then sold it quickly for what MUST have been a loss right? And those wheels make my purist self nauseous...

Re: Beautiful Florida Spider
Looks like it sold for $15,950 USD. Seems like a fair price even with the smaller engine given the level of restoration. If it runs as well as it looks it might even be a bargain when you consider the cost to bring a car to that level. However, I agree that part of the fun is fiddling with the car because you can and there are little items that you know. also, these cars are to be driven. This car is a little too pretty and you would certainly not want to track it or get caught in the rain on the way back from a cruise event.

Re: Beautiful Florida Spider
Those rims kill the car IMO and were probably darn expensive. The rest of the resto looked top notch.
