32 ADFA fast idle speed

Post by Erudyn »

I just recently rebuilt my carb on my 76 spider and when i reinstalled it I had an annoying issue. The engine idles at 3500 - 4000 rpm and I cannot get it to drop at all. Ive tried adjusting the idle speed but it doesn't seem to change anything. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

If it's idling that high, the throttleplate isn't closing completely. You should be able to wind the idle screw out until the throttleplate stops enough air getting through that the engine stops. Check cables/linkages etc. to make sure they're not holding the throttle open.
