hoist hook up

Post by jimmbo »

I've got a 72 124 spider and looking to pull the engine. What or where is the best chain hook up. Or is there a strap technique that is available. I;m planning to pull with the tranny attached. Any tricks please pass them along ! THANKS :D

I pulled mine with the tranny attached. In the front I grabbed the engine on the tab that is there for lifting the engine (if it's missing you can use one of the head bolts). As the picture shows in the back I wrapped the chain around the exhaust manifold. A leveler makes it a lot easier getting the engine out. The transmission also almost didn't get past the steering linkage. You might want to take that off before pulling the engine, otherwise you'll do a lot of fiddling.
