The A/C is common in the Pininfarina Azzuras. The automatic is less common than the 5 speed, but is not terribly rare either.

While the Pininfarina series ('83-'85) can be considered "more rare" than the Fiat series ('67/'68 - '82) due to the number imported into the States, those with the automatic transmission have been seen as "less desirable." It's my understanding that the automatic transmissions were based on a General Motors 3-speed -- the same one used in a Chevy Chevette.

A Pininfarina series car without factory/dealer-installed AC are probably more rare than those with AC. This doesn't mean owners who've removed the AC themselves. Rather, those cars never having AC installed.

The transmission is a T180 GM transmission. They're solid as a rock and are great for in-town driving mixed with some freeway. The RPMs are a bit high at 65 making the drive less desirable for me personally. The autos are generally not as desirable, but I've not seen it affect the value any....just makes the buyer market narrower. I own one of each. :)
