My brittany spaniels are brother and sister. Oliver will be 2 in March and Lucy is 6 months old. Like Courtenay's springer, my guy loves water! The pup has yet to try swimming, but if anything like her brother, we wont be able to keep her out of the water.

Our grumpy old man watches the dogs with disdain... gives sideways glances at the fiat for being too noisy and smelly... and requests that I make the rain/snow stop when he feels the urge to go outside.

I have to say my little Sadie has passed away. She was my constant companion for over 11 years. She was the happiest dog we ever had. She loved going for rides in the Fiat and will be missed.

Here's a little video I made. I'm standing just out of view. As you can see she is always looking right at me. She is the happiest dog we have ever had.

Here's another video with her running around on the beach. She will run about a 100 feet ahead and then stop and check to see if I'm coming, then she'll come back to get me.

Zippy, so sorry to read about your loss. Best "tail wags" to you, Sadie looks like she was a great dog.

Very sorry to hear that. You can find solace by knowing that you gave your pooch everything she needed, and a great life with a loving family. I lost my dog to old age a couple years ago, sure missed hearing her paws on the floor, she was always with me. Just as I was getting used to not hearing her paws clicking on the floor, my son stopped by and dropped off 2 puppies for my wife and I to watch for a week. Needless to say, 2 years later and we still have those dogs.
I'm sure that in the future another pooch will adopt you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. After going through the same many times I know how you feel . I have a pit bull who is 10 years old and the sweetest dog you will ever meet. I dread the day I loose my best friend Malcom.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have had many dogs over the years but Sadie was very special. She was my shadow for 11 years. She would jump up on my lap whenever I sat down. She always wanted to go with me wherever I went. She hated Poddles but loved Rottweilers. She loved to go to the beach and wade in the water but she didn't like to swim. She loved to play in the snow and she would hop around in the snow and catch snowballs I would throw to her. Thank you all for listening, it helps.

It was a year ago today that my best friend of 9 years was shot and killed by someone tresspasing on my land. Its been a hard year for the whole family.

He loved to work with me in the shop but his productivity really needed improving.
Here we are working on brake lights.

So in April of last year we were adopted by a Boxer-Bulldog mix, also known as a Bulloxer .

He loves the Spider, He has been riding since he was 8 weeks old. He's nowhere near where Malcolm was in our hearts but he is trying.

dogs are great addition to our lives. If we all had the commitment to service and unabashed love like dogs, we would all be better people. The downside is they leave us way too soon. The last dog we lost was a rot-lab mix. born with no rear hip sockets. That dog lived with unbelievable pain every day and was the most light hearted dog you could meet. Learned more from that dog than any of the others. The dog peacefully died in my arms. I have 2 great dogs again. I'm just trying to figure out how to harness them in the Fiat so they dont die a premature death when they scratch my paint.

My Sheltie, Scooter, loves to ride in the truck but hates to be left alone it it. He ate both rear headrests, down to the metal bars literally being all that is left, the two front headrests are destroyed, the seats are torn up, etc. So it was a REALLY beat up old work truck anyway and I just traded it in on a new Silverado. So now what do I do to protect the seats? Looking for bomb proof( or dog proof) seat covers that he won't be able to chew through! We love the little bastard, and you couldn't ask for a better watch dog. He takes his job very seriously and he will bark if a leaf falls off the tree.

We now board dogs,up to 3-4 dogs only though, and just recently had Finn and Tuck, a couple of Shelties like your Scooter.
Initially nervous little munch-kins but they did not mind their "crates" when left alone or bed time.
Perhaps consider a suitably sized crate if you have to leave the truck. Because it might only be a short absence a smaller crate would work. The ones the two Shelties came with were actually soft material sides that were partially collapsable.

Not a bad idea about the crate! He gets a little rambunctious even when I am in the truck with him!

I did find these "bomb proof" "ballistic" seat covers online, made from Cordura, which is what my motorcycle jacket is made from. I ordered some samples and maybe these will work. The price is reasonable considering that I will use them for at least the next 0 more years, this being the last truck I own before retirement. :(

I tried a muzzle but it pisses off both him and me. Kinda degrading to the little bastard.
