pesky oil leak

Post by Hamush »

Hello all,

I am trying to determine the source of a pesky oil leak that's been going on for a while

please see the attached pics

for whatever stupid reason, the pictures come inverted. sorry about that.
the oil leak seems right above the oil pan, at where the big bolt is...
my question is, what is the purpose of that bolt, and can it be removed and somehow coated to stop the leakage?

any advice is welcome, and again, sorry for the rotated pix.

I'm kind of confused. That looks like a mechanical fuel pump ?
To the immediate right of mine on the fiat motors is a frost plug opening and then a length of block before the back of the engine.

I'm not seeing a big bolt in the pick. I have found that those crazy Italians tried to put all bolts either in a oil passage or water passage. At you next oil change try and remove the bolt a d wrap some Teflon tape around it and screw it back in.

Looks like your fuel pump gaskets to me. I don't use that RED RTV on the gaskets and would recommend you don't either. Aviation sealer is good if you want to use something or thin layer of formagasket .
