1980 Fiat 124 Spider on racetrack

Post by divace73 »

G'Day All
For those who are interesting in track work, I took my spider to a place know as Wakefield Park which is 2 hours south of Sydney'
Everytime I go down I try and improve on my time, so far so good, I got it down to 1:18.99.

Enjoyed the video. Got a kick out of that g-meter. Over 1.0 G in the corners. Nice!

Where do I get that "heads up display" unit.

I just usually put in my best lap to reduce viewing time, I will be putting in a bit of a longer session towards the end of the day when my exhuast broke and it sounded like a real race car...

Just do a search on video Vbox from Racelogic, the company I work for are agents for Race logic so we we sell all their products, no doubt it would be more economical to buy it from an Agent in the US for US residents. I usually design the scene to look like the car it is intended for, hence the 124 gauges
Here is one I did for a 1975 Porsche https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ifhkCRPwOQ

Thanks for the video, it's quite fascinating, especially to gauge your rpm range. 3000-5500, which I would consider mid-range. I'm constantly asked about really radical race cams being used in street motors. Most owners can't tell me the range the motor will operate in want much more cam than I recommend. In this instance, it wouldn't make sense to build a motor that makes max power in the 6000-8000 range since midrange power usually suffers in that situation

i have to agree, although i would like a little more top end rev range, my car drives great in the that range (I have normal cams) and it is road registered, the only thing I have done is high comp pistons and that it was either 8.9 or 9.1 (I can't remeber??). I have had the fly wheel lightentend a little and balanced.
I do plan to change to MS soonish (it has been like that for 2 years now) to get rid of the AFM and see if I do get a little more top end. I do have adjustable cam wheels but have not yet dialed in the cams, they are set on the standard settings.
I am reasonably happy with the way my car performs, always things to do but she has been faithful to me.
Cheers David
