Questions about seat rebuild

Post by rjkoop »

I took apart my seat to rebuild/POR-15 the frames. Everything is done but I think I may have put the seat cushion/base on the opposite seat base frame. This is the piece I'm referring to...

Does it matter? They look the same to me and they fit so I think they're interchangeable. Also does the seat rail adjustment (ie. to slide the seat back and forth) go near the middle console for each seat? I think so but just wanted to be sure.

I wonder if those rubber straps across the seat bottom are replaceable, and/or available? I'm pretty sure after so many years, mine would be shot, and need replacement. Anyone?

Got the seat frames rebuilt fine. They look pretty good and re-enforced with new steel in a few sections.

Would sections of truck inner tube work? Double up if needed.

When I was building a gyrocopter (many years ago). The seat used truck tire inner tubes. They look similar to the Fiat seat bottom.
