Hi guys - my '74 has 2-point belts, which seems odd given that she is a '74. Anyone know what set up she came with from the factory?
Thanks!

My 76 too.
I believe shoulder belts were required in 77 or 78.
Retrofitting 3 point belts is an issue. It has been discussed here at length.
Try various seachs and you'll find the threads.

Ideas on sourcing replacement belts.

Well it depends on how tall you are.tdskip wrote:Huh - so in this case my TR6 is actually more advanced than the Fiat? Ha.

If your shoulder is not higher that the seat back, then you can use a small acessory that fits under the headrest, and that can be a kind of a third point for any adjustable seatbelt you could install behind the seats.
If your shoulder is higher than the seat back, you can do the same, but then it's your bone (I don't know the english word for that "clavicule" bone), that will play the role of the third point.
Might be less resistant in case of emergency.
Otherwise, roll bar and three points belts is still possible.

Nope, not recommended.
Weld supports on the rear bulkhead like the newer ones, or attach to the roll bar.

Re: 2 vs 3-point belts
shoulder belts should be mounted or have a point just below your shoulder, around 2", this will permit the belt to keep you in the seat in the case of a roll over. if you look at any racing organizations seat belt mounting diagrams they will also spell this out for you. granted in the street car arena it is not possible to always have the shoulder point in that position, but if you were designing one for yourself, i would place the belt where it did the most good for me in a crash. you should also look at how much belts stretch in a crash, then ponder the use of 30 year old belts at all.

Re: 2 vs 3-point belts
Hi guys - best place to get correct matching 2 point belts while I figure out the 3-point belt approach? I know generic belts are easy to source but this car is pretty original and I want to respect that. I'm a 124 newbie so forgive the question. IAP didn't seem to have anything.
Thanks!
