big brother listening
I have been PMing Jean in France (westy64) about relay design for our spiders. His e-mails arrive on time. My first e-mails to him took days to arrive. We communicated through this site in the meantime with no speed issues. Jean and i were both thinking that someone held up the e-mails for scutiny. Anybody have similar issues?
Re: big brother listening
This is likely caused by your email provider. There is not a good reason for the emails to take that long. What email provider do you both use? Gmail tends to be considered the fastest, but it can also be limited by one of you having an inconsistent internet connection. Do your emails always take that long or just sometimes?
By the way, IF big brother were to bother "reading", actually they'd have a computer program scanning for key words, you'd notice no delays. They'd simply make a copy of the email and let the original continue to the recipient as to not cause alarm between the parties so they don't change their method of communication. Just say in

I'm sorry, but I can't seriously believe that someone needs to "hold" your messages in order to search them. If some agency is searching the messages, why would they be held? to allow enough time to steam open the virtual envelope icon? to make sure they aroused suspicion?
I'd say server issues are a lot more likely. However, if you really want a vehicle for paranoia, I'd say it's also very likely that your international messages are being run through "terrorism" filters. But that wouldn't slow them down.
Re: big brother listening
its probaly because the spider looks much like an aston martin and 007 drove one and he was a spy. you see where i'm going with this?

The French heard we are trying to pattern our economy after theirs. They're just giving you a preview of things to come!

As someone who's attempting to create an email service, I have to agree that its probably someone's email server. Notably, something called greylisting. Its a technique to limit spam, but causes email delays.
You can read about it here: http://projects.puremagic.com/greylisting/

The NSA keywords scan is very fast, it wouldn't cause any noticeable slowdown.
