My totally bone stock 89 sundance would slam my spider in the turns and the straights. My goal with that like is to not be rude just pointing out the depth of my problem.
Out of the cars I own the fiat is slowest but by a LONG way the most pretty I just want it have the guts to match the body. The more i think about it the more I think a modded twin cam is the way I am gona take, and I can always take it back out and do a engine conversion later on.

to anyone that cares here my car list
82 dodge rampage
89 sundance
84 nissan silvia S12
80 spider

Start your conversion then sell it later as a partly completed project, because that's what usually happens with them. There's a lot more time, money and engineering involved than just "doing an engine swap", and never is there a good return on investment.

My 78 with an 1800 is quick. As far as I know it's bone stock with all smog removed and its all I need at this time. I bought a 34dmsa to put on but I really don't need it. It surprises me your 2L is that slow. Did you have other problems that weren't identified ?

I don't honestly know if there was a small issues that effected the performance it might have just been worn out the engine didn't really blow up for lack of oil or something that killed it outright it died slowly over like a month.
