Ideal compression for a sprintex super-charger

Post by surfingfreeman »

Hello All and Happy Holidays
I currently have a 1982 FI Spider with a bit of a modified engine and exhaust system I.e. 4mm domed pistons with a rough compression ratio of 9.8-1 however the head combustion chamber was developed a bit, marks 274 cams, Miller's adjustable cam wheels, snake header blah blah blah. So my question is, what would the optimal (pre-super charger) CR be? Would it be a waste to put it on my car as is?
Thanks.
Mike

to take full advantage of the compressor, turbo or supercharger the ideal compression ratio is around 8-1

Depends on fuel used, blower size, ignition system, intercooled or not, and amount of boost. If I ever get mine bolted on, CR will be a bit under 9:1, burning LPG (between 100 & 110 octane), intercooled, megasquirt for spark and around 9 psi boost. Corky Bell's "Maximum boost" is a must read if you want to get serious about forced induction, it gives all the information and formulas required to help decide whether your plans will work in the real world.

Hey guys
Search for sprintex on the Internet and youtube, mark has mentioned that they are the maker of the screw-drive unit, they already have bolt on kits for mini-coopers, hondas etc etc
