Who uses their spiders as daily drivers?

Post by 124spiderman »

I'm interested in knowing how many of us use their cars as daily runners. i.e rain too.
I use mine often but not as often as I'd like. Don't generally drive in in the rain unless I get caught out, nor do I drive it much in the hot Australian summer. Too bloody hot!

I had to use mine when we were short a car in Jan and Feb of this year, was great when the days were the right temp, but when it was raining and humid in Feb, with no AC and the usual leaks, I was wishing I was in a different car....

It is a daily driver every Saturday and Sunday  About 2500 miles per year. I'll need to slow that down in order to enjoy her over the next 30 years. 81K on odometer right now.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Not a spider, but a 131. Rain hail or shine it gets driven every day, between 200 and 250 Kms a week usually.

Purchased the car new in 1980, have over 140k miles on it. Been through 1 engine; 1 transmission; 2 tops and countless brakes and what not. For the last five years she gets driven very little, but for the first 27 years she was a daily driver. :D

comon Mick, driving a 131 is a dream when the weather is shitty, doesn matter how good a spider top is, water finds a way to drip on your lap.....

I drive my 80 Spider every day...rain or shine. It is 54 miles round trip and driving my car is the highlight of my day. I drive it on the weekend, on some of my vacations and for errands. :D I drive my appliances (Honda and Dodge) when I need a Wagon Queen Family Truckster for the entire family.

The Spider only surfaces on weekends, my daily driver is a Fiat 128 2 door sedan, just like Enzo

I'm trying to be just like you. My 128 will be my Daily Driver if I can light a fire under my welder... I haven't been pushing because it's a nice place to store the car during the bad weather (for free) and now it's so cold that I can't work on it out in the driveway even if he does get the welding done. (I need to do all the basic maintenance stuff on it like brakes, fluids, and also install the refurbished gas tank and lines).

i'm working on making mine a daily driver. it gets great gas mileage and is cheap to insure. at least that's what i sold my wife on so i could buy it!
i drive past three auto parts stores and a Walmart to and from work everyday. its kind of like having a pit stop and crew of my own! i'm currently trying to figure out why there are like 16 shims next to my lower control arm on the drivers side and only two on the passengers side. i cant find any evidence of former body or frame damage. it could be PO brain damage. she goes down the road straight but the tires are wearing as if she is out of line. like i said i'm pondering my next step in that area!

Yep, every day rain or shine, and its the best part of my day too.

@ spidernut, There is a red spider in that movie when Clark goes to the sporting goods store to buy the BB gun after getting turned away from the moose.

I can't use my car for work, too many tools to carry, but I would if I could. As it is, when I'm home the truck stays parked and everywhere I go I take the Spider. Year round. I've had it about 5 years now and put 30,000 miles on it. Of that, two trips from here in SoCal up to Oregon and Washington put about 4,000 miles on it.
Most of my work is away from home and I may stay a week at a time and the whole time I'm gone I miss the Spider.
Oh, and my wife.
