That plastic doohickey on the wiper arm needs to come off completely.

These cars have wipers? Learn something new every day. I had thought it had a pair of flyer holders so people could stick flyers and notices on your car without them blowing away. That explains why they went to all the work to make the flyer holders sweep back and forth and extremely slow speeds.

I suppose if one were to drive their Fiat in the rain, one would find out whether the operation of the wipers was a problem. I have had my car for 3 years. I got caught in the rain once. The wipers were really slow. I decided that rather than doing anything with the wipers, I'd rather not drive in the rain. So I don't.

Not me, and as Westy pointed out I live in a part of British Columbia that can be quite rainy - which is why my 32 year old car only has 65,000 Kilometres on it - and no rust.
A note for Westy, though, there are parts of BC that get very little rain. Chris (Narfire) for example lives in a part of the Province that is very dry through the Spring, Summer and Fall.

Yes we average 30 cms (13 inches)of the wet stuff including snow per year. No shortage of pickle-pear cactus and rattlers in the hills above us.

I live in the second most humid and salted place in the world.
Warm, humid and salty... as exposed to the west ocean winds.
Really bad for cars, except the de lorean and range rovers.
But no salted snow, as no snow.

Welcome to Biarritz !
