Weird dream

Post by Danno »

I had a weird dream that I went to put my Spider in reverse and the shifter dropped straight through the floor and the car rolled backwards and there was the entire drive train sitting in front of the car.

Then some dude came up and said, "there's your problem. You have a rusted-out motor mount"

Then I came up with some idea to fix it with 2x4s and the rest is all fuzzy.

I know I'm a psychologist, but I'll let you all have fun psychoanalyzing this.

Danno,
I too am a psychologist with a practice limited to sleep issues/disorders. Dream content is rarely relevant to real-life (except repetitive dreams and PTSD nightmares).

What IS relevant in dreams is the emotion you are feeling during the dream. So are you anxious an important part of what drives you forward will drop out? I'm happy to see you have a positive attitude that you can fix it (albeit with 2 x 4s).

Check the mounts lol I had friend that had a dream that his gas peddle got stuck on his newly built rat rod. That morning he told his wife about the dream. He left his drive way turn the other way that he had dreamed and hit the gas and the peddle stuck wrapped it around telephone pole. He survived but he dreamed it the night before, I know this sounds wired but it happen.

Steve, I follow you, and in fact had thought something similar.

Freud, on the other hand (because his stuff is the Funnest, although not necessarily the bestest) would tell me that something in my life is making me feel as though I don't have the power (probably sexually) that I desire. I believe the he'd call it a metaphorical castration of sorts.

Similar concept to your analysis. You're proposing a fear that "my engine" will drop out, Freud might tell me I'm dreaming this because my "sex engine" has been forcefully removed.

In my life currently I have been stressed because I'm working so hard at work, but then I always work this hard. I have also been stressed because I have not been able to run due to what seems to be hip bursitis. This comes after running as much as 42+ miles in a single week and at a minimum low 20s. Kinda going through withdrawal symptoms. Running DTs are bad, lol.

Rodman, I don't normally believe in seeing the future in dreams, but the human mind is a wonderful thing. I fully believe that our subconscious can often figure out things and influence our behavior without our conscience ever knowing it. Perhaps I know somthing is awry with my car and I haven't quite figured it out consciously, but my subconscious has determined a significant weakness and latched onto the entire drivetrain as a dramatic mode of conveying this weakness. I WILL visually inspect the drivetrain before I drive it again, mainly because it's something I haven't done in a while.

Seabeelt, When I woke up there was synthetic engine oil all over my sheets. What do you think that means?

How many psychologists does it take to change a motor mount?

Only one, but it has to want to change.

That's funny. Even my wife laughed at that one.
