back to regularly scheduled program

Post by azruss »

After 2 years on blocks to complete body and paint prep, i finally sprayed my final touch up primer. next is to remove 2 year old masking tape and newspaper and start the massive cleanup job. Im thinking a garden house, soap, brush and wet vac. I will talk to the painter this week and see what his schedule looks like. want to get the motor up and running before the paint goes on. ran great 2 years ago except for some overheating. That wil just be a burping issue. How i have to find 4 tires that hold air. Hope to shoot some "rat pix" before it heads to the beauty shop. Weather supposed to be pushing 80 this week, so should get a quick cure and sand the touch up this week.

That's good to hear Russ, keep us informed.
I can't remember what year your car was. 82? And what color are you going with?
Waiting for pics.

the car is an 80 FI. went back to a flat hood and early bumpers, added homemade air damn and custom rockers. going to tu-tone the car black and blue. Went to see the painter and he moved to Colorado. The new guy is a veteran that specializes in Harleys. Has done lots of custom rods. Shop owner says he will come buy this week and look at the car and give me the price to finish it up. They will do the final sand as well as color sand and polish.

Be carefull about getting primers wet as they absorb water and this can cause blistering in the top coat even a year later.

The wet primer goes against all known practices as every paint shop i know wet sands before paint application. I have been using an epoxy primer and am very impressed with its durability. I also dry sand everything ...personal preference.
