Horrible Day, or is it?

Post by Danno »

I got up early and decided that I needed to drive the Spider to work being a casual Friday and all. The temps were predicted to be warmer as the day went on, and it always runs nicely in the cold anyway.

I was smiling by the time I was a block away from home. A beautiful start to the day.

Then I had a meeting that lasted from 9:30 to 1:30 (normally we run about an hour for this type of meeting). and it has now screwed up my plans for the entire day (deadlines and such) not to mention how draining this meeting was. It's so surprising that I can hop on my bike and ride for nearly 100 miles or I can run a half marathon and have energy left, but to sit through a 4 hour meeting like this leaves me exhausted.

about an hour ago I was cursing my job and trying to think of career choice options. then I looked out the window and saw my spider basking in the afternoon sun. It's just sitting there calling for a quick drive home at the end of the day.

The world is right again.

Funny, I'm having a crap type day as well.

Last night my forklift stopped working in a compound where I store my logs. No spark so pulled the dist. cap and pretty dirty in there. Ordered new cap, rotor, condenser ect. put that in this morning in the rain. Tried to start and ....nothing, turns over but not catching. Went back to the shop to get a set of jumpers, answered the phone a couple of times...customers wanting to know when the timbers or wood they dropped off yesterday will be ready...thought to myself what I really wanted to say. but told them "when I get my forklift running" they ask when that will be.... thought to myself again.... man, I hope you didn't have kids and pass those genetics on....
Spent all morning...nothing. Had a tech from a car repair place pop over and have a look. Everything lines up, firing order good... spark.... propane.... not sure if it is getting into the horn..
Phone call to the forklift gods.... tried a couple of things...nope.
Missed my lunchtime swim. :(
Lunch and go back and try it this afternoon, at least it stopped raining :)
Well, going out for dins tonight, someone else is cooking and cleaning up.
The insurance is off the spider,so I can't even get out in that..

I spent most of the day insulating the ceiling of my garage. Covered with bits of fibreglass and dust. Next vapor barrier and then drywall. I can hardly wait....NOT!!
At least when I'm done I'll have some nice clean, warm storage for my Spider.

Crap day here as well. Spent 3 hrs looking for a cow that wondered off and that blew the rest of my day. Thought I would have 2 days off but was called in to work tomorrow. I did get the leak fixed on the hot tub. :D

that same day I fought a major issue with some "high quality" plywood with which Ive built a huge wall unit for a client who is BY FAR the most anal human Ive ever met. The plywood, when primed was bubbling up (ie not enough adhesion on the outer layer of veneer). I fought it tooth and mail all day with razor/sander/bondo/sander/bondo/sander/primer/razor/bondo/sander/primer... I think I got it beat. Install is scheduled to begin monday morning. Today I picked up my 1959 600, tomorrow i will button up my "winter" projects on my Spider. Fiats rock.

Had the oil changed at my friends local volvo shop. (Actually we drank coffee and talked while the oil drained) Thought I would go for a little ride. 75 miles later I arrived home. Went for a spin today. 90 miles later I arrived home. Two nice fiat days :D
