I just bought some Lucas mirrors to put on the 600 and the guy gave me a British Car magazine from 1993. theres a very interesting article about several MG "prototypes" that were bagged for one reason or another. the one that caught my attention was the EX 234. it was a Pininfarina design for a potential replacement for the MGB AND the Midget (the plan was to offer 2 different engine options and even 12" wheels for the midget version but the same body. Anyhow, Pinin had JUST penned the Spider for Fiat and in my eye the EX looks pretty remarkably similar. i really like the rear end and the interior is pretty cool too. If anyone is interested I can type up an excerpt from the article, let me know and Ill do so.

Hi George,
Well I’ve never seen a picture of that prototype before, it’s a new one on me.
I can’t say I see much Spider in it myself, to me it’s got a bunch of Alfa cues.
But my first impression when I saw the front end was of the early 60’s Daimler Dart SP 250, which in my opinion ranks right up there among the ugliest cars made. A more appropriate name for the beast might have been the Carp.
By all accounts though it was actually quite a good car. It had a small V8, did 0 to 60 in 9 sec., handled good and had quite a refined interior. Nice ones have been selling for some serious $ lately.
Still though, I can't see me in one.

Re: Interesting Pininfarina prototype
paint the grill surround and leave just the grill chromed and I bet it would look pretty good.. horrible as it sits now though.
