1959 600
went to see the 600, it fired right up. needs a few small items dealt with and there is a little bit of previous rust repair that is starting to bubble under the passenger rocker panel. Oddly the drivers side does not seem to have any rust at all and I dont see any in another spot but I was hoping it was totally rust free (wishful thinking)
Anyhow, I pulled the trigger.. motor sounds strong and smooth gonna pick it up later in the week with my friend on his trailer...

Re: 1959 600
My father had a 600. The starter went out and he and one of his friends decided to try a different approach to fix it. The fanbelt pully had an extra grove, so they ground a notch in the pully. Wrapping a rope around the pully, and giving a big tug started it. I'm sure some liquid refreshments were involved,

Very Cool !
I travel, extensively, for work.
A few months ago, I was sitting outside at Amnesia Brewing Company enjoying a pint of I.P.A. with a colleague when I heard the distinct sound of a Fiat coming down the street.
Lo and behold, it was a little 600, in white.
I wonder if it was the same car.

Re: 1959 600
I dont thinkso. this has been sitting in a showroom in Estacada, OR for about 4 years. The gas gauge reads full and the car started right up and we had it running for about 20 minutes with no incident. I was surprised at how smooth the engine sounds, for some reason I was expecting it to sound a bit more like a VW...
Couldnt drive it out as there are other cars/things in the way at the moment but will go pick it up soon.
Meanwhile my Spider has all new front seals, timing belt etc and next sunday I will install the single plane manifold, re bolt the carb and it'll be back on the road! I also have access now to a much larger and brighter garage although I will probably keep the other one for a little while until I figure out how much tinkering the 600 might need.

I owned a 600D in Oregon back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I loved its simplicity. Check the brakes. they have very basic drum style and owners seem to let them go. Hope you are old school enough to know how to work on them.

It doesn't look too bad. A little soap and water. Could be worth the price of admission for those Roosevelt wheels alone.

Re: 1959 600
just saw it on BAT but had actually come across it last night on CL... think theyd trade for a 600?...
The red one isnt for sale...yet. Its actually very straight and if there is rust it is relatively recent (since it started sitting out under a huge tree in the rain perhaps?) it belongs to a friend and the interior is VERY clean and sorted. Mechanically it needs some attention but he knows what it needs and if he doesnt get to it soon Im gonna start begging him to sell it before it starts to go too far.
