Thanks in advance.
Anybody got a pic of a '75 dash
Re: Anybody got a pic of a '75 dash
I can shoot pics of a '77 or '78 tomorrow. I'm not aware of any real changes from '75 thru '78, but I do not claim to be an expert. I've probably got extra wood parts, gauges, etc. somewhere in my barn if you have something missing.

My 76. Do these help? One PO apparently removed the warning lights and so forth above and below the brake and hazard warning lights and put in plain wood.

@Exit98
How did You treat a center plastic part of the dash (chrome efect)? Did You spray it, or Did you chrome it some other way?

Is your radio unit a standard one (in terms of size) ?Exit98 wrote:My 76. Do these help? One PO apparently removed the warning lights and so forth above and below the brake and hazard warning lights and put in plain wood.
Or have you succeeded in hanging the radio to prevent it to touch the lighter ?
Mine does not enter the hole without damaging the cigarette lighter. Maybe new models are smaller now ?
my dashboard (center part) has been modded the same way on my 76.Exit98 wrote:
I prefer it this way, as the other functions are not operating.

Bonjour Westy,
When I got the car the radio in the picture was in the glovebox. I wanted it in the center console. I used a Dremel tool to cut the right size opening in the console. I didn't have the metal "cage" thing that is used to install a radio. So instead I made a little wooden shelf that I attached inside the console using little brackets. The bottom of the brackets are screwed to the console but they are behind the silver grille so you can not see them.
I wish I took some pictures. It worked very good. At first the cigarette lighter and hazard switch plug hit the bottom of the shelf so I cut two holes in the shelf where they touched and that was just enough room to fit everything back together.

That bezel looks like a repro one from Spiderpoint. I have a similar one which I treated with rattle can black crinkle to more closely match the OE.braca23 wrote:@Exit98

Braca,
Sorry I didn't see your question. Thanks Bernie for jumping in.
When I re-did my console I had the center part of the dash out. The black paint was all flaked and cracked. With just a cloth and a little water or windex, I forget which, the black paint came right off and the plastic chrome shined up.
I was going to try to repaint the center section and the edges black, similar to how Bernie did it, but I kind of liked the chrome look and decided to leave it as is. One of these days when I have it apart again maybe I'll try the black paint.

Re: Anybody got a pic of a '75 dash
Thanks guys. I have a center part in similar condition, like Exit98. Think will do the same procedure as You have done. Btw, Yours dashes looks very good.
Thanks once again.
