Stolen

Post by htchevyii »

Hi guys,
A friend of a friends beloved 75 Ford Bronco got swiped out of a locked shop the other day, so if anybody sees a nice Bronco where it doesn't belong.

I don't really know the details, but it's a boat shop where he works, so?

Back in my motorcycle days I met a guy who had a GPS bolt on his bike. I had never seen anything like it before however, I always thought it was the best tracker ever.

PS I am putting $10 down on the "inside job" pool

Nobody has said it, so I'll be the first. Daaaaang, that's a nice Bronco. this is major sucky. You'd think that if the word gets out it would be spotted in a heartbeat, but then again many drivers are just clueless. My own wife can't id any vehicles except other Kia Sorentos or Ford Tauruses/Tauri and that's only because there are about a bajillion of each on the road.

if somebody stole it out of your building, they have been casing it. you need to poke your head around behind houses and buildings especially in and around body shops because a quick scuff and squirt and its off to a state where a title isnt needed. also find out if there are any local off-road clubs in your area and scope out their next get together. mosey around and see if you spot any other broncos and innocently admire it and mention that you wish you could find one, noting that you dont have alot of mechanical ability so it has to be in fairly good shape! this may seem like a lot of work but if you love that bronco than it will be worth it if it pays off. you are dealing with what we used to call "smart dumbasses" they are clever enough to figure out how to steal it, but are quite stupid and bragging when it comes to selling it.

Man that is a beatiful Bronco that will be pretty tuff to replace without dropping a lot of coin. There isn't much I would want Chip to do to that. It ticks me off just to think someone would steal an obvious labor of love like that. If they catch the guys (I'm sure he had help) I hope they resist arrest for a while.

Apparently it has been found, but missing several thousand dollars worth of parts, wheels & tires, winch & bumper, James duff suspension parts the top, etc.
My Dad has a '74 that looks almost like it and boy are they easy to steal! They just have a ign switch in the dash and no steering lock. Plug in a switch or a wire to the dist and a screwdriver to that easy to get to Ford solenoid and you're on the road. Had to do it once when I lost the keys.

It was stolen to order, parts were sold before they stole it.

You can bet on it. See if you can get a list of Broncos of that era in your area from the DMV I know Florida sells them. It shouldn't take long to find one up on blocks getting nice new parts.
