Differences in convertible tops

Post by hyghlndr »

I am a newbie but I wanted to see if anyone could help with the following.

Does anyone know the differences between the Fiat 124 and Fiat 850 convertible top frames? I a looking at doing a custom top without the second side windows that attach to the Fiat 124 tops. Would the Fiat 850 top work at all on the 124 frame? How different are they?

850 is much narrower and shorter, no way to adapt (within reason)

Both above are absolutely right - they were not designed or built even by the same company (Bertone made the 850 shells, Pininfarina the 124). The width, height, fold points, mounts, method of connection, everything. The only thing they have in common is vinyl and a clear window.
