Can this spring perch be welded or repaired? RESOLVED

Driving around tonight with our son when the back end started to rattle Drove home to find this

It looks like someone cut thru it with a grinding wheel? Sure it can be fixed if you find a good welder as long as the rest isn't so rusty that there's nothing left to weld to.

Contacted Csaba and it looks like I am going to get a welder. Would anyone have a spring perch?

Found an antique restoration welder 15 min away that came highly recommended...dropped Fiona off, now we play the waiting game..........

Just received this email from the welder "we have brought your car in and taken apart to see visible damage , the only way is to find the piece and replace the whole part as there is many holes and would not be worth to make a small piece , would only last until rest give way, only other option if you cannot find piece is to fabricate one"

Anyone have that piece? PPPPPLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE

Keep in mind, this is coming from a non-mechanic.

Swapping out the whole rear is not a tough job. The Fiat book has step by step instructions. I pulled it out by myself in a couple hours.

I did have expert help putting it back together, but really it is quite strightforward.

All you need is a late rear end assembly.

I may just have to go that route. He actually has an extensive experince in this field so hopefully I'll be in good hands.

Apparently I need some other parts as well FML!

The garage has discovered that the upper portion is comprimised as well He said the rear coil (upper portion) sits on a metal seat that slides into a rubber sleeve. Anyone know what these parts could be and where to find them?

Looks like the garage is going to be able to fabricate everything Fiona needs and she will be back on the road in no time
