Shift Boot Removal

Keeping it sharp - paint, wax, detailing, etc.

I'm wondering if I can just shove some foam around my present lower boot? The rubber is intact, but the original foam was rotted wawy to nearly dust. I'm getting a LOT of heat from the console area, but I thought it was just beacuse I replaced my OEM console with a thin fibreglass aftermarket one and have not (yet) replaced the insulation under it.

I guess you could :? I would strongly recommend the one above. It really made an incredible difference, not only with the heat but also the fumes. There was a post of someone who had made their own foam insert.

I can remove the veneer/metal panel, but my shifter boot was made shorter than spec and is screwed into the console. I can't even see where and I have no desire to lift the rest of it.

But I'll have to.

Anyone have specs on the boot? I'd rather just make one than buy one. Gotta save somewhere!

Thanks.
