Post by YVRSpider »

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for the best Spider repair manual out there. Does anyone have a recommendation and ideas of where to get it.
Thanks a lot

The general concensus on the forum is that it takes a set of them to get good coverage. Most are good at some things and terrible at others. Some don't even cover major topics at all. There are a bunch online and some for free on the internet. Brad Artigue has FI manuals, etc. that I have found to be excellent. Best thing is to collect them all!

I've used these two books for over 30 years. The one on the left is Clymers and the one on the right is Haynes. By looking at the wear these books have recieved I would say the Haynes is the best. As stated above, you need at least two to double check the facts.

And of course, no post is complete without a photo of the reason we are here!

Depends on the year of the car, as some manuals only cover certain years. I think the best is the factory shop manual, with Clymer being the second. Haynes is ok. Chilton is only good as a fire-starter.
Only Haynes has wiring diagrams, and not very good ones. There are good wiring diagrams and a fuel injection guide at artigue.com.

As a beginner I have found that a combination of this manual, http://www.artigue.com/, and the amazing people on this forum is all I have needed so far. Hoping Santa will bring me the factory shop manual 8)

Thanks for all the great suggestions and ideas guys and I'm sorry for the slow reply. I'm still new to the forum so still trying to figure it all out. To answer the earlier question, its an '82 FI that I just picked up and I can't wait to get into it. I ended up ordering one of the factory manuals but I haven't received it yet....I'll let you know what I think of it once I get her in my hands.

when I read this post I decided it was time to order the Haynes on Mamazon.
Then I received a porsche manual, for the 924 model (almost the right number !). :D
Now waiting for the replacement one.
Should'nt last.

I have the Vick's manual, and it seems to be pretty decent. Definitely need a few, though, and even then I think it's tough to know which one, if any, is right.
