I bought one few months ago, and I believe it was from a X1/9. Although it fits, it's actually a bit smaller than the Spider one, so it will partially expose the holding bracket. I can take a couple of pics tomorrow

I thought the mirror part is wider and interferes with the sunvisors? Can you confirm?

I did a couple of things to stop the rear view mirror rattle: First, took it all apart and cleaned it and made sure that it was all assembled and working correctly. Then applied a bead of black RTV around the backside (exterior) of the mirror casing (This means you can't easily disassemble it in the future, but who cares?) This stopped nearly all the rattle, but I found that the front casing was also slightly warped and allowed the glass to rattle a little still, so I put another small black RTV bead all around the front where the casing meets the glass. If you are careful in applying it and wipe the excess off, it is not at all noticeable, and makes a good seam.

It is amazing how few rattles there now are in the car! When I take friends for a ride, I used to lightly hold the mirror and they would notice that there was not a single other rattle in this 32 year old car! Amazement! Not sure that an old MG or Triumph could do the same...

My memory fails me, but I bet there is a mounting nut inside that attaches the mirror to the stalk that could be tightened (?)

My old mirror used to rattle so I bought a new one.
The mirror itself does not rattle anymore, but the windshield frame is rattling, the hood is rattlng, as the engine is rattling, at idle.
So I need to stard a deep work on the engine, first, or keep the engine in revs...

I will do this, but it will only work on the effect and not on the cause...

Are those the rubber pads that are supposed to sit up by the cowl on either side out by the ends of the hood? There is an old outline of something on mine that looks like that shape in that area.

This is (not 100% sure, but I believe so) a X1/9 mirror. Notice that it leaves the holding bracket partially uncovered. I believe the original holding bracket was different, and it might not match the holes your windshield

...and this is the correct one, better fit :)

I need to fix my mirror as well.

Yes, that's where they go RR. I still have mine but may upgrade soon.

My visors need attention. The passenger side fell off. The left hinge broke. But they are really floppy. I was thinking of making wood ones. What do you guys think? Has anyone ever seen custom visors?
