Trip is booked.....leaving 12 November on Amtrak's Southern Chief to LA, arriving 15 November. Booked a flight back on 16 November but still interested to drive someone's ride home! I'd even cover my gas and hotels. Would enjoy the road time.

Incidentally, really surprised at the Amtrak setup. Only $212 fare coast to coast, plus $300 for a two bed sleepette all to myself...and with that comes all meals. Like three days/nights in a rolling hotel through the great southwest. Should be a hoot.

That sounds like a great trip! I'm a rail fan as well. Man, I can't wait to retire. Too bad you couldn't find a spider for the return leg--that would have made it perfect.

ya know, if you're interested and it worked-out somehow.... I have a car in Rockwall TX that I need to get to SLC.

I'm just sayin'...... it's a 404hp luxury-ride.
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

Rockwall to SLC.....can combine with a personal trip to Austin for some concerts. When is the car available and when do you need it in SLC? Used to be assigned to Fort Riley Kansas - would love to stop there en route. This may be doable.
