HELP!!!

Post by fiatfanatic »

Hi! I've got a 1980 Spider that I just put a new motor in. I took the entire interior out of it while I was waiting on the motor to arrive. Today I finally got everything in order and decided I would try to start it. Now I don't have power to anything except the starter!!! I mean everything is dead! Without putting the interior back together, I plugged everything back in. I have no power to the ignition switch or the fuse box or ANYTHING! I tested the wire small wire that's connected to the positive cable all the way to the box that it is plugged into, and it has power! Does anyone have any suggestions or things I could try to FINALLY get my beloved Spider running? PLEASE HELP! Thank you in advance for your help!

there is a small wire with a large loop connector that goes on to the starter terminal. That feeds power in to the ign switch

Thanks for the quick reply! The only other wire I see is the one that pushes on to the post right next to the battery wire! Where would I find the wire you are talking about?

I was playing with these connectors this weekend, if you trace the wires coming from the starter.. the starter would have the thick cable from the battery, then there are two other cables on that same lug, one goes to the alternator, the other goes to power other circuits in the car, make sure these wires are connected to their respective connectors, on the 1980 same as my son's spider you would find them close to the alternator's back side on the left side of the car just below the oil dipstick.
