I recently saved a 82 124 spyder 2000 from an untimely demise!..This car, although only 1 basic owner lived most of its life in a garage in Newport, RI..With 39K miles on it, mechanically its in pretty good shape...I threw a battery and fresh fuel in it and it started right up..Idles so smooth i could put a glass of water on the valve cover!
Sections of the body, however are another story..It needs attention...Living near the ocean didn't help..
For some unknown reason, the previous owner removed the rear calipers and set them aside and they are all rusted...As well are the rotors..It appears whoever worked on this before only had vice grips and a broken screwdriver!
Can u folks help me with parts suppliers?..I'm on the south shore of Boston...I've googled a bit, but I thought I would try this site first and speak with the people who know!
This is not my first car to restore..done a 64 corvette, 911, and a mustang or two..had a 75 Spyder while I was in tech school and remember I had a blast with it...
Currently also doing a MGA, and getting fed up with aftermarket parts that don't fit.
Looking forward to driving my new 4 wheel toy..
Oh, yes..Also ride bevel drive ducati's...Love Italian, although my wife is Irish!
